Training as a Ring Steward
Lots of people tell us that they would like to steward but do not know how to start. There are some stewarding courses but it is not like the real thing and with Southern Counties at Newbury you could gain experience at one the UK's leading Championship Shows.
You would be very welcome and you would be working, possibly even in the Main Ring, with some of the most experienced stewards in Britain. The only proviso is that you must be over fourteen and of course, it would help a lot if you and your family show dogs.
The scheme was the brainchild of Bill Bunce, our Chief Steward for many years, who died in 2018. His role has been taken on by the very experienced Patrick Holbourn who can be contacted at

Kennel Club Points of the Dog Assessment
Usually, From 10.30 each day, Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, Ann Woodrow is happy to introduce candidates to the Points of the Dog Assessment process followed by the test itself.
Unfortunately, Ann is not well and had to cancel her assessments this year - she will be back
